Job Description:

The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the organization's financial management system and records, ensuring accurate financial reporting to donors, and maintaining compliance with organizational and donor policies and procedures. The role also includes supporting budget preparation, financial monitoring, and audits to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective financial management across all project operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·       Manage, monitor, and oversee budgets and project expenses to ensure efficient use of funds and alignment with organizational and donor requirements.

·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, vouchers, and supporting documentation.

·       Prepare timely and high-quality financial reports for management and donors, highlighting key insights and variances.

·       Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, and financial procedures, supporting audits and reviews.

·       Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning for projects

·       Provide guidance and support to program and field staff on financial procedures and best practices

·       Identify and implement improvements in financial processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.

·       Handle tax clearance and other essential financial tasks as required

·       Monitor day-to-day financial operations and record expenses using QuickBooks software

·       Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage

·       Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably in an NGO or development context

·       Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and internal control systems

·       Proficiency in advanced accounting software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, or similar) for recording, reporting, and analysis

·       Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audits

·       Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and provide actionable recommendations

·       Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

·       High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and internal control systems
  • Proficiency in advanced accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP) and MS Office applications for financial analysis and reporting
  • Ability to prepare accurate budgets, forecasts, and financial reports in line with organizational and donor requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with program teams, auditors, and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality and compliance
