ROLE PURPOSE:
The Construction Engineer Assistant supports the engineering and construction team in implementing irrigation and watershed infrastructure works. The position assists in site supervision, monitoring construction activities, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining project documentation to support timely and efficient project implementation
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Supervision:
• Assist the Construction Engineer in supervising construction activities related to irrigation canals, water harvesting structures, watershed Management works, and other civil infrastructure.
• Monitor daily construction progress and ensure activities are carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
• Support the implementation of construction schedules and work plans.
2. Technical Support:
• Assist in basic surveying, measurements, and layout of construction works.
• Support quantity measurements and preparation of work progress reports.
• Help verify materials and ensure they meet project quality standards.
3. Quality Control:
• Monitor construction quality and report any deviations from technical specifications to the line supervisor.
• Ensure proper use of materials such as cement, aggregates, pipes, and reinforcement where applicable.
• Assist in conducting site inspections and documenting findings.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain site records including daily site reports, labour attendance, and material usage logs.
• Assist in preparing progress reports and submitting them to the line supervisor.
• Support the preparation of measurement sheets and basic project documentation.
5. Community Coordination:
• Assist in coordinating with local communities and beneficiaries during construction activities.
• Support awareness activities related to watershed Management and irrigation infrastructures.
6. Health, Safety, and Environment:
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards on the construction site.
• Report safety risks and incidents to the line supervisor.
• Promote environmentally responsible construction practices within watershed areas.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in irrigation, watershed management, rural infrastructure, or water resource projects.
• Familiarity with construction monitoring tools and reporting formats.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
• Priority will be given to the qualified local candidates.
