Job Descriptions:

The MHPSS and GRM Assistant supports the implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities and manages the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) at the field level. The role includes assisting in providing psychosocial support services, raising community awareness, and ensuring that complaints and feedback are properly received, recorded, and addressed in a timely and confidential manner. The assistant works closely with program teams to maintain accurate documentation, uphold safeguarding and confidentiality principles, and ensure effective communication between beneficiaries and the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to MHPSS staff in Nangarhar BPHS facilities, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Support integration of MHPSS services into primary health care under BPHS, including alignment with GRM procedures for client feedback and complaints.
  • Assist in planning, budgeting, and operationalization of MHPSS activities, incorporating mechanisms for community feedback and grievance management.
  • Review field reports and provide technical feedback for continuous quality improvement, including analysis of GRM submissions for program enhancement.
  • Coordinate with provincial and project teams to ensure smooth implementation of MHPSS services, addressing any complaints or grievances promptly.
  • Support development of tools, guidelines, and reporting formats for MHPSS services, integrating GRM channels for accessibility to beneficiaries.
  • Monitor performance indicators, analyze data for evidence-based decision-making, and include GRM trends in program evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with MoPH, donor, and MHCO policies and standards, including safeguarding and GRM procedures.
  • Support capacity building and training of MHPSS field staff, including orientation on GRM, PSEAH, and survivor-centered approaches.
  • Supervise documentation systems and ensure proper record-keeping, maintaining confidential records of grievances and their resolution.
  • Promote confidentiality, safeguarding, and ethical service delivery, ensuring GRM cases are handled professionally and respectfully.
  • Report any suspected PSEAH violations immediately, following GRM and organizational protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow a survivor-centered approach in all interactions and grievance handling.
  • Participate in PSEAH trainings and promote compliance among staff, ensuring GRM channels are well understood and functional.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between central office and field teams related to MHPSS programs, including reporting on GRM outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with MHCO safeguarding, child protection, and PSEA policies, integrating GRM practices where relevant.
  • Report any safeguarding, misconduct, or grievance concerns following MHCO and GRM procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, ethical behavior, and responsiveness to complaints or feedback
Job Requirements:
  • Midwifery, public health or related health qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in MHPSS and GRM or relevant work.
  • Experience in BPHS/EPHS implementation or humanitarian health projects preferred.
  • Strong MHPSS and GRM technical knowledge.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto; good command of English (written & spoken).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
