Job Descriptions:

The Health, Nutrition, and Immunization Coordinator is responsible for providing overall technical leadership, coordination, and oversight of integrated health, nutrition, and immunization programs in line with national policies and organizational standards. The role ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of BPHS, with a focus on improving service quality, coverage, and equity. The coordinator works closely with provincial teams, government counterparts, and partners to strengthen program performance, support capacity building, ensure efficient resource utilization, and maintain compliance with reporting requirements, while promoting evidence-based decision-making and contributing to improved public health outcomes.

Main Job/ Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for planning, implementation, and monitoring of integrated health, nutrition, EPI, and CBHC activities across all projects.
  • Ensure accurate vaccine forecasting, effective cold-chain management, and timely distribution of vaccines and related supplies.
  • Monitor immunization and nutrition indicators, including coverage, drop-out rates, service utilization, and data quality, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure the availability and proper implementation of national MoPH policies, strategies, guidelines, and protocols related to health, nutrition, EPI, and CBHC within BPHS/EPHS projects.
  • Review and analyze program reports on a quarterly basis, providing regular technical feedback to provincial teams to improve performance and service quality.
  • Assess M&E, EPI, nutrition, CBHC, and partner monitoring reports, and ensure timely development and follow-up of action plans to address identified gaps.
  • Ensure effective and standardized implementation of integrated health, nutrition, EPI, and CBHC services across all operational areas.
  • Represent the organization at national-level meetings, trainings, workshops, and coordination platforms related to health, nutrition, and immunization.
  • Conduct regular field visits to provincial offices and health facilities to ensure compliance with BPHS standards and quality service delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of trainings and capacity-building activities for all health, nutrition, EPI, and CBHC staff.
  • Ensure implementation of all immunization modalities (fixed, outreach, mobile, and campaigns such as NIDs) in accordance with approved plans.
  • Lead supportive supervision and on-the-job training to strengthen the capacity of technical and facility-level staff and improve service quality.
  • Ensure availability of qualified staff, essential resources, guidelines, equipment, and IEC materials to support program effectiveness.
  • Strengthen coordination and collaboration with MoPH, WHO, UNICEF, and other partners to enhance integrated program delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with organizational safeguarding, child protection, and PSEA policies, and report any concerns according to established procedures.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all duties.
Job Requirements:
  • MD (Medical Doctor).
  • Master’s in Public Health or health management is an asset.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in health, nutrition and EPI services.
  • Experience in BPHS/EPHS implementation or humanitarian health projects preferred.
  • Experience in capacity building and supervision.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of MoPH policies, HMIS, EPI and CBHC services.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto; good command of English (written & spoken).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
