About Youth Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR):

The Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR) is a national, non-governmental, and non-profit organization founded in 1994, register no. 157, to deliver humanitarian assistance and support Afghanistan’s long-term recovery. Over the last three decades, YAAR has grown into a capable and community-focused organization with experience working in more than 17 provinces and implemented multisectoral projects in partnership with UN agencies, INGOs, embassies, and local institutions.

Job Descriptions:

Specific Responsibilities:

Conduct regular inspections of provincial office facilities and HFs.
Supervise maintenance and repair of buildings, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and other infrastructure.
Coordinate with contractors, technicians, and service providers for maintenance work.
Maintain maintenance schedules and service logs.
Visit health facilities to assess maintenance needs and prioritize interventions.
Provide technical guidance to HF staff for minor repairs and equipment handling.
Ensure safe usage and storage of maintenance tools and materials.
Maintain an inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Ensure availability of necessary materials for routine repairs and maintenance.
Assist in procurement requests for maintenance-related items.
Prepare regular maintenance reports for the provincial office.
Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive measures.
Report major facility issues requiring higher-level intervention.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols during maintenance work.
Promote a safe and healthy work environment in both office and field facilities.
Support emergency repairs in case of equipment or infrastructure failure.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements
At least 3 years of proven experience in the field (maintenance, repairs, facility management, or technical support in NGO/INGO preferred).
Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Building Maintenance, or related technical field (relevant experience accepted).
Strong communication skills: fluent in Pashto and/or Dari (English is an advantage); proficient computing skills – word processing, spreadsheet design for maintenance logs/reports.
Good knowledge of basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, generator/solar maintenance), safety protocols, and tool usage.
Efficiency, result-oriented, and excellent organizational capabilities; ability of problem-solving and attention to detail; capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential issues responsibly; teamwork skills; cross-cultural and gender sensitivity; ability to travel throughout the province; respect the confidentiality of the organization.
