In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. TPO is an expert in the field of psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of war and natural disasters.  HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is managed by a team of qualified Afghans and supported by a team of experts at the HQ of the organization in Holland.

HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus....... through a community system strengthening approach.

HealthNet TPO has a zero tolerance toward sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse. HNITPO takes seriously all concerns and complaints about sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse involving HNITPO employees and Related Personnel.

Job Descriptions:
  1. Work as back up midwife in the HFs where needed
  2. Provision of ANC, PNC, delivery and family planning services to the clients
  3. Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and maternal nutrition Counseling of all mothers with a special focus on Pregnant and lactating mothers/women
  4. Giving health education to pregnant and lactating mothers
  5. Coordination with HF staff and project management staff
  6. Night duty in the HFs as per schedule
  7. Maintain partograph and other related registers and documents
  8. Observing IPC in the HF
  9. They will ensure RH and EPI services are provided 24/7, and avoid disruption to the services.
  10. Administration of vaccine specially during the night duty whole vaccinator is absent
  11. Meeting with community elders for community awareness and sensitization
  12. Counseling to pregnant and lactating women for getting additional food.
  13. Encouraging mothers to receive Iron Folic Acid (IFA) during lactation and pregnancy.
  14. Attend planned training by HNTPO
  15. Observe the organization policies and rules
  16. Application of the RMNCH related policies and guidelines during the practice
  17. Good behavior with clients and staff
  18. Support health promotors regarding EPI and RH sessions
  19. Fulfilling all relevant registers and support documents.
  20. Regular reporting to the line manager
  21. Consideration of the data accuracy and consistency
  22. Well maintaining the HFs registers and documents while joining the HF
  23. Handover of the document to the midwife who return from maternity leave or training
  24. Other task assigned by line manager
Job Requirements:

Degree: Graduate from GIHS or recognized midwifery schools

Experience: At least three year working experience in BPHS health facilities.

Other skills: Knowledge of the local languages, good communication and counselling skills
