Job Descriptions:

Job Summary

Providing health services in the interior sector and providing health services in the relevant sector

Strict adherence to attendance and permanent and active presence at the workplace (during the daily routine and at the time of service)

Correct use of materials, equipment and supplies, efforts to prevent their wastage and waste.

Regular and active attendance at breakfast meetings.

Regular attendance at breakfast visits for patients.

Examining patients accurately in the emergency department, writing summary observations, treatment and, if necessary, admitting patients regularly in accordance with the principles of hospital surgery.

 Accurate completion of observations and examinations in the file of hospitalized patients and ensuring the matching of the relevant order, writing a progressive note and renewing the order daily.

 

ESSE stablishing detailed surgical procedures in consultation with the head of the surgery department, preparing patients for surgery, operating patients with the relevant team, and following up with patients after surgery.

Identification and exact adjustment of the return system.

Attention and strict observance of moral and Islamic principles.

Use of essential drugs and reasonable prescribing in the treatment of patients.

Completing patients' files and orders at the time of their discharge or in case of the patient's death (writing discharge summery).

Detailed writing of the operation protocol.

Active participation in seminars and training courses.

Wearing a healthy uniform at work

Preparing a monthly report of the implemented activities.

 

ENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1.      Provide comprehensive surgical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients requiring emergency and elective surgical care.

2.      Perform major and minor surgical procedures according to national clinical guidelines and international standards.

3.      Conduct thorough pre-operative assessment, obtain informed consent, and prepare patients for surgery.

4.      Provide safe intra-operative management while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection prevention and control (IPC) standards.

5.      Monitor and manage post-operative patients, including pain management, wound care, and prevention of complications.

6.      Respond promptly to emergency surgical cases, including trauma and life-threatening conditions.

7.      Participate in daily ward rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions to ensure quality patient care.

8.      Supervise and support junior doctors, interns, nurses, and operating theatre staff in surgical practice.

9.      Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, operative notes, discharge summaries, and medical records.

10.  Follow hospital policies on patient safety, safeguarding, medical ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct.

11.  Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical audits, and continuous quality improvement activities.

12.  Report notifiable diseases and adverse clinical events in accordance with national health regulations.

13.  Collaborate closely with anesthetists, physicians, radiologists, laboratory staff, and other specialists to provide integrated patient care.

14.  Participate in on-call duties and provide 24/7 emergency surgical coverage according to the hospital duty roster.

15.  Promote rational use of medicines, blood products, surgical supplies, and other hospital resources.

16.  Ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), waste management, and occupational health and safety standards.

17.  Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery, and follow-up care.

18.  Refer complex cases requiring advanced specialized care to higher-level facilities when appropriate.

19.  Participate in disaster preparedness, mass casualty management, and emergency response activities.

20.  Contribute to staff capacity building through mentoring, bedside teaching, and participation in clinical training sessions.

21.  Perform any other duties assigned by the Hospital Director or Medical Director that are relevant to the position.

 

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

MD and specialty degree in general surgery.

At least 4 years work experience in Hospital as surgeon.

Preferably with international donor-funded projects, UN agencies or NGO's on relevant programs in Afghanistan.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Fluency in Dari and Pashto.
