Project Background:
Provision of quality Health, Nutrition, Mental Health & Psychosocial Care, and WASH services at health facility and community levels in Eastern, Southeastern, Northeastern, and Central regions of Afghanistan.
Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for ensuring safe drinking water and information about water contamination in targeted health facilities in Takhar province through strong coordination with the WASH and other project teams.
To ensure proper water testing, Highlight & advice on Water Contamination & ensure provision of safe drinking water.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
· Collection of Water Samples from the Water supply Sources and Storage Tanks for testing physical, chemical, and biological parameters and comparing the result with WHO and ANSA standards.
· Conduct field visits for continuous monitoring and to prevent the potential for pollution or contamination.
· Conduct Chlorination of water points within the targeted communities and health facilities.
Provide emergency response technical support, chlorination of water points.
· distribution of soap, and water quality analysis during the AWD/Cholera outbreaks.
· Provide technical support to the IMC-related health facilities.
· Support Health & Hygiene workers in preparing WASH and health-related soft interventions and guide them to some basic key wash interventions to educate communities on the protection of safe water, and storage.
· Chlorination and disinfection of water sources at the time of new installation repair, and rehabilitation phases.
· Work closely with the Hygiene promotion and health teams, creating awareness among the community about proper care and maintenance of drinking water sources, and storing and using water efficiently.
· Documentation and reporting of progress, challenges, and lesson learning for future implementation for similar projects and accountability.
· Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and submission of the weekly and monthly reports to the WASH Technical Manager.
Assist in other job-relevant and office duties requested by the Technical /Field supervisor.
