ABOUT THE JOB
· Overall, the Grants Management Specialist supports the Grants and Partnership Manager and broader Grants and Partnership Unit team in building and administering DRC Afghanistan’s portfolio of multiple grants across four area offices and four core sectors.
· The Grants Management Specialist supports grant management, proposal development, and engagement with donors.
· The Grant Management Specialist leads high quality and timely donor reporting and case study development.
· The Grants Management Specialist supports the GPM in providing expert support on grants management and donor compliance, ensuring grants processes and donor requirements are understood among DRC Afghanistan’s programme and support teams.
· Act as the head of the Grants and Partnership Unit in the absence of the Grants and Partnership Manager.

1. Grants management, representation and compliance
· Provide end to end post award management including representing DRC to donors for a portfolio of complex, multi-sectoral grants as assigned by the Grants and Partnership Manager
· Lead and coordinate regular monitoring of grant performance including through grant kick off, review and closure meetings
· Coordinate and work closely with programs, area office and finance staff for cost extensions, no-cost extensions, budget realignments and other grant amendments as needed
· Proactively identify compliance risk through the portfolio and advise program and support teams on necessary actions
· Assist the Grants and Partnership Manager in building capacity within area office, programs and support staff in report writing, donor compliance and other key topics
· Work closely with the Partnership Specialist to ensure effective partnership management and performance on relevant sub-awards
2. Reporting
· Lead the coordination, compilation, and review of donor narrative reports and case studies, including submission via online portals
· Take responsibility for donor reporting deadlines, in terms of setting internal deadlines, providing clear guidance to relevant colleagues, and following-up on inputs, ensuring high-quality, well-written, and timely reports meeting donor and DRC requirements.
· Facilitate review of reports by DRC’s headquarters as per internal procedures, incorporate feedback received, and address questions and comments.
· Contribute to strengthening DRC’s report writing processes and capacities
3. Proposal development
· Lead proposal development for specific opportunities as assigned
· Contribute to the writing and/or compiling of proposals and concept notes
· Review proposals and concept notes for consistency, compliance, language, and overall high quality
· Support the GPM to lead project design meetings and prepare proposal templates
· Assist the GPM in maintaining up to date information on donor priorities and funding opportunities.
· Support the GPM in reviewing donor contracts
