Background
The organization operates a multi-branch enterprise network with centralized data center services. The infrastructure includes Cisco routing and switching, DMVPN WAN architecture, Sophos Next-Generation Firewalls, and VMware virtualization platform. A CCIE-level architect is required to design, secure, and optimize this environment following international best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Server Administration
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
• Manage Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in Windows environments.
• Ensure regular patch management and updates for Linux and Windows systems.
• Implement and monitor system security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and encryption technologies.
Virtualization Management
• Deploy, configure, and manage VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter infrastructure.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual machines (VMs) and physical hosts.
• Manage VMware-related components such as vSAN, DRS, and HA.
• Handle VM backup, restoration, and disaster recovery procedures.
Systems Maintenance and Monitoring
• Implement monitoring solutions to track the health and performance of systems.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for server and infrastructure-related issues.
• Ensure adherence to best practices in system performance tuning and capacity planning.
Automation and Scripting
• Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Develop scripts for backups, monitoring, and system health checks.
Documentation and Reporting
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Prepare and present regular reports on system performance, incidents, and planned maintenance.
Support and Collaboration
• Provide Level 2/3 technical support for server and virtualization-related issues.
• Collaborate with the network, application, and database teams to ensure seamless IT operations.
• Train junior staff and provide guidance on system-related tasks.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, MCSA/MCSE, VMware VCP-DCV are preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Linux and Windows server administration.
• Proven expertise in VMware ESXi and vCenter environments.
• Experience in managing high-availability systems and disaster recovery planning.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Linux (e.g., CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, including vCenter, vSAN, DRS, and HA.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, NetBackup).
• Scripting proficiency in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
