Job Descriptions:

The Nutrition Supervisor will be responsible for implementing and coordinating all nutrition-related activities under the SAFE BPHS Project in Kandahar Province. The position holder will represent AAIWO values and principles in interactions with staff and external stakeholders and ensure effective delivery and monitoring of nutrition interventions.

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate all nutrition-related activities under the SAFE BPHS project and work closely with key stakeholders such as UNICEF, PND, MoPH BPHS, and field partners.
  • Analyze and share information with provincial partners/stakeholders using evidence such as monitoring findings, nutrition database reports, and national nutrition surveillance system (NNSS) data.
  • Follow up on and assess progress, identify bottlenecks, and address potential issues in a timely manner.
  • Represent AAIWO and provide updates at provincial nutrition coordination meetings.
  • Provide continuous support to the provincial nutrition committee to analyze routine data, identify gaps, and address bottlenecks in nutrition service delivery across health facilities.
  • Prepare monitoring and supervision visit plans for priority areas to address gaps in nutrition services.
  • Conduct regular monthly follow-up on recommended action points for the implementation of nutrition activities.
  • Monitor and supervise nutrition services at health facilities (HFs), health posts, and the community level, providing feedback to the provincial nutrition team.
  • Conduct data verification sessions for Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS), Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), Community-Based Nutrition Program (CBNP), and Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) indicators using agreed-upon tools such as HMIS, the nutrition online database, and the WIFS online database.
  • Monitor nutrition supply chains to ensure proper handling, storage, and use of supplies including RUTF, IFA, anthropometric equipment, CBNP kits, and vitamin A.
  • Ensure Kandahar Province has proper quarterly and monthly distribution plans and facilitate timely release of supplies from main warehouses to avoid stockouts at health facilities and service delivery points.
  • Ensure provincial nutrition teams submit supply requests on time to PND, UNICEF, and WFP.
  • Ensure safety, security, proper handling, and documentation of nutrition supplies in all facilities and warehouses to prevent wastage, damage, misuse, or expiry.
  • Provide regular feedback on nutrition activities and the performance of the program.
  • Contribute to the development of donor reports and other nutrition-related documentation.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in nutrition program implementation, management, or supervision, preferably within NGO or UN programs/projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; tactful; and able to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Pashto is required; English language skills are an added advantage.
