- Purpose of the Position
The Tailoring Trainer will deliver practical, market-oriented tailoring skills training to qualified female members of earthquake-affected households whose livelihoods have been disrupted. The position aims to strengthen participants’ technical skills, confidence, and income-generating potential, enabling them to contribute sustainably to their household economy and overall livelihood recovery.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Training Delivery and Technical Instruction
- Deliver structured practical training in basic and intermediate tailoring, including measurement taking, cutting, stitching, garment assembly, alteration, repair, and finishing.
- Train participants in safe and effective use of sewing machines, hand tools, and basic machine maintenance.
- Introduce simple garment design techniques relevant to local market demand.
- Ensure training is inclusive, participatory, and appropriate to participants’ literacy levels and learning capacities.
B. Curriculum and Lesson Planning
- Develop and follow a simple training plan with daily and weekly lesson outlines aligned with project objectives.
- Prepare and adapt training materials and demonstrations to meet participants’ needs and progress levels.
- Adjust training methods based on regular observation of learning outcomes and skill gaps.
C. Mentorship and Learning Support
- Provide hands-on guidance and mentoring to trainees throughout the training period.
- Encourage a supportive, respectful, and women-friendly learning environment.
- Provide constructive feedback to help trainees improve skills and confidence.
D. Monitoring, Assessment, and Reporting
- Track attendance, participation, and skill progression of trainees.
- Conduct practical assessments to evaluate trainees’ competency development.
- Share progress updates and challenges with the Project Officer for follow-up and support.
E. Equipment and Training Center Support
- Ensure proper use, care, and basic maintenance of tailoring equipment and materials at the training center.
- Coordinate with the Project Officer regarding training schedules, materials, and logistical needs.
F. Livelihood and Market Orientation
- Provide basic guidance on income-generating opportunities related to tailoring after training completion.
- Share simple information on local market demand, pricing awareness, and potential market linkages, in coordination with the livelihood team.
G. Coordination and Teamwork
- Work closely with the Project Officer and community stakeholders to ensure smooth training implementation.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and share field-level feedback to improve program quality.
3. Expected Outputs
- Women trainees equipped with practical tailoring skills suitable for home-based or community-level income generation.
- Improved confidence and employability of female participants from earthquake-affected households.
Regular attendance records, progress updates, and trainee assessments submitted to the Project Officer.
