About ACBAR:

The Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development (ACBAR) is an independent forum established in 1988 to support NGOs working with Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Since relocating its main office to Kabul in 2002, ACBAR has grown to include 211 national and international NGOs operating across all sectors of humanitarian assistance and development.

ACBAR provides:

Coordination: Supporting NGO collaboration at national and regional levels.
Information sharing: Delivering timely updates to members and the broader aid community.
Advocacy: Addressing issues affecting NGOs’ work in Afghanistan.

ACBAR’s mission is to provide an efficient platform for NGOs to deliver effective humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding activities in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY

The Guard position is a full-time job that is responsible for providing support to the operations of ACBAR in Afghanistan. Hours of work can change as noted in the monthly schedule. Regular hours of work are 8 hours per shift day and night not including sleeping time.

ESSENTIAL TASKS

Essential tasks include the following:

Check all visitors using safety/security guidelines and visitors cards to make sure they are valid
Register the visitors in the ACBAR logbook
Guide visitors directly to meetings and departments as confirmed with the meeting list or department
Check all cars for weapons, explosives and other materials that are not allow before letting them in the compound as stated in the safety/security guidelines
Observing and reporting suspicious activities
Responding to alarms, emergencies, or security incidents
Ensuring gates, doors, and entry points are properly secured
Register outgoing and incoming cars with their users
Ride and provide security for expats and other staff especially finance as requested in vehicles with the driver during the day and always at night
Report all emergency incidents to the line manager
Change shift according to schedule including handover to the guard of the next shift and submit the security form to administration
Clean areas when on night guard duty such as conference rooms, yard, corridor, dining room and guard’s room
Secure all office equipment during official hours and on holidays.
Follow the regulations, staff policies and respect the organization structure
Perform any other task as requested by line manager and/or senior management including assisting colleagues in other departments

Ability to assist and talk to many types of visitors
Ability to follow instructions and to ask for help when necessary
Courteous and polite when representing ACBAR

EDUCATION, TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE

- High school preferred
- Two years of experience in a Similar Position/Field

LANGUAGE SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY

Ability to communicate meeting details, security issues and other information to colleagues and management
Ability to speak Dari and Pashto, some English preferred
