Spinghar Institute of Higher Education is dedicated to assessing the comprehensive research needs at both national and regional levels, identifying critical gaps that require thorough investigation. The institute aims to conduct academic research in the medical field that addresses pressing issues in medical knowledge and practical application. Faculty members (lecturers) and specialist from the teaching hospital are committed to advancing prevention, treatment, education, and other sub-fields within medicine. Job Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing annual and/or action plans.
  2. Recording faculty and researchers’ published work on the institution’s official website and digital databases.
  3. Reviewing research submissions to the institutional scientific journal, following approved procedures, in collaboration with internal and external reviewers.
  4. Collecting high-quality scientific research articles for journal publication.
  5. Conducting proofreading and content editing of accepted research articles before publication.
  6. Distributing published journals in both print and digital formats to relevant institutions and stakeholders.
  7. Publishing approved international research articles through the institution's online international journal.
  8. Supporting all processes related to the creation, licensing, and accreditation of academic journals.
  9. Implementing journal publishing policies in line with institutional guidelines.
  10. Organizing journal content, volume structure, and formatting for publication.
  11. Coordinating with the Research and Scientific Journals Division to register and index the journal in reputable international academic databases.
  12. Reporting regularly to the Research and Scientific Journals Division on the journal’s academic and operational matters.
  13. Participating in journal-related meetings.
  14. Ensuring all submitted research is original and has not been published elsewhere in any language.
  15. Utilizing plagiarism detection software to assess the originality of submitted work.
  16. Preparing and processing submitted articles for publication within set deadlines.
  17. Sorting and archiving published articles by faculty and publication year.
  18. Coordinating with both internal academic staff and external reviewers throughout the review process.
  19. Ensuring all submitted articles meet the approved formatting and submission requirements.
  20. Sharing reviewers’ feedback with authors to support revision and improvement.
  21. Communicating reviewer instructions to authors and maintaining a double-blind peer review process.
  22. Submitting research for publication in accordance with ethical standards and academic integrity policies.
  23. Collaborating with the institution’s IT and Graphic Design departments for the technical publication and online presentation of journal content.
  24. Performing any additional duties assigned by the relevant authorities in accordance with institutional policies and regulations.
Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s in a relevant field (Research, Education, Linguistics, Journalism, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience in academic editing, journal management, or research administration.
  • Familiarity with Open Access and subscription based publishing and indexing
  • Familiarity with research repositories and databases

Language & Technical Skills:

  • Fluent in English & Pashto (writing, editing, and speaking at academic level).
  • Strong knowledge of research methodologies and citation styles (APA, Chicago, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, reference managers (Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote), and plagiarism tools (Turnitin).

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to details and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with researchers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with bilingual (English-Pashto) publications.
  • Knowledge of Dari is a plus.
  • Previous work in university/academic journal settings.
