Working under the guidance and supervision of the HERP Senior Coordinator, the Nutrition Manager will be responsible for the implementation of the AHF-funded project in Ghazni Province, a major part of which is nutrition interventions, as well as the overall design and execution of nutrition programs. These programs will include IMAM, nutrition surveillance and assessments, promotion of MIYCN, nutrition education and counselling, and addressing micronutrient deficiencies across all CARE-supported health facilities. The Nutrition Manager will also be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, improving, and maintaining public health nutrition performance indicators by SPHERE and WHO standards in humanitarian settings.
• Nutrition Program Development and implementation:
• Develop the nutrition sector strategy as part/in line with the overall health program strategy
• Develop strategic plans and objectives for nutrition programs in alignment with the health program, organizational goals, and priorities.
• Lead the development and implementation of nutrition programs and initiatives, including IMAM, MIYCN, and CBNP at the health facility and community level.
• To effectively design the nutrition component interventions within the health and nutrition projects proposals, and to provide strategic guidance on how to efficiently implement nutrition components within the health and nutrition program.
• to participate in the quality improvement of the program and to provide support to the development of the nutrition components of the project action plan and monitoring tools.
• Design and develop CN/proposals for nutrition new initiatives/opportunities.
• Compose and submit TSFP proposals to finalize FLA agreements with WFP for all nutrition projects.
• Supervise and coordinate the implementation and monitoring of nutrition project activities in line with proposal targets and work plan timelines.
• To support the field team in planning, implementation of nutrition activities, and provide on-time nutrition, physical, and virtual technical support.
• Assist in response and management of any nutrition emergencies, e.g., acute food shortages, and participate in the development of a disaster preparedness plan.
• Budget Management:
• Develop project budgets for the nutrition program in close collaboration with the finance, procurement, and other concerned departments.
• Manage the budget for nutrition programs, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals.
• Attend and participate in monthly budget review meetings, with records of updated expenditure and spending plans.
• Team Leadership and Key relations:
• Supervise and mentor nutrition program staff, interns, and volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of program activities.
• Ensures coordination of nutrition project activities with the project managers, Provincial deputy health managers, and Provincial Managers.
• Collaborates with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL), finance, human resources, procurement, and other support functions concerning assigned projects.
• The Nutrition Manager, in compliance with CO human resources policies and strategies is always ensures to hire nutrition-qualified staff as per the project staffing needs and structure.
• Reporting:
• Will be reporting to the senior coordinator of the health equity and rights program
• Prepare regular reports and presentations on nutrition program activities, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Submit nutrition monthly and weekly reports to WFP and UNICEF.
• Review and cooperate in the health and nutrition projects' final reports.
• Data Analysis and Evaluation:
Collect and analyses data to evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition programs, identify areas for improvement, and track progress towards program goals.
• Policy Advocacy:
Stay informed about relevant nutrition policies, regulations, and guidelines, and advocate for policies that support nutrition program.
