Develop, review, and regularly update Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP), Environmental and Social Commitment Plans (ESCP), and other relevant ESHS instruments.

Ensure compliance with Afghan national environmental and social laws, as well as donor-specific ESHS standards (e.g., World Bank ESS).

Monitor implementation of environmental and social mitigation measures and suggest enhancements when needed.

Oversee solid waste management activities at health facilities and project sites to ensure alignment with national guidelines and global best practices.

Conduct health and safety risk assessments for facilities and field activities and develop mitigation plans.

Establish and maintain safe working environments across all operational areas in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles.

Monitor and enforce compliance with all health and safety regulations and SOPs.

Investigate incidents and accidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures.

Develop and implement training and awareness strategies on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH), GBV, and safeguarding.

Set up, manage, and oversee Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) committees at central and field levels.

Track, document, and report grievances, GBV and PSEA cases, ensuring they are handled confidentially and sensitively in line with best practices.

Design and deliver training for staff, contractors, consultants, and partners on ESHS topics, including PSEAH, GRM, and workplace safety.

Provide regular orientations and refresher training to ensure all stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities in maintaining compliance with ESHS policies.

Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure ESHS standards are being maintained across projects.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date ESHS records, reports, and documentation.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports on ESHS performance for submission to management, donors, and government partners.

Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders (e.g., PPHD, MoPH, MoE, donors) on ESHS compliance issues.

Maintain effective coordination with provincial and national health authorities, project staff, and local communities.

Represent ASLO in ESHS-related meetings and working groups at the central and provincial levels.

Provide strategic input to senior management on emerging ESHS risks, trends, and mitigation strategies.

Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and neutrality in handling all ESHS-related concerns.

Promote an organizational culture that values integrity, equity, transparency, and inclusivity.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
