The Site Engineer will work closely with the Provincial Coordinator and Senior Infrastructure Engineer at TLO sub-office(s) and relevant project sites in Daikundi Province. The duty station will be Nili District, with regular travel to project sites within Daikundi Province to support the implementation and supervision of irrigation infrastructure works, including intake, canal, and aqueduct construction.
The site Engineer will:
· Support the Senior Infrastructure Engineer in supervising and implementing the rehabilitation and construction of irrigation canals, intakes, and watershed management structures.
· Assist in conducting technical assessments, site surveys, measurements, and verification of infrastructure needs based on CBPP priorities and approved technical designs.
· Supervise daily field activities carried out by laborers, skilled workers, and contractors to ensure compliance with approved drawings, BoQs, and technical specifications.
· Monitor the progress and quality of construction works and promptly report any deviations, delays, or technical issues to the Senior Infrastructure Engineer.
· Ensure the proper use of construction materials and verify the quantities delivered, stored, and used on-site in accordance with the BoQs and procurement documentation.
· Conduct regular site inspections and maintain accurate records of work progress, challenges, material usage, and labor attendance.
· Assist in preparing and verifying technical documents, including site reports, daily logs, measurement sheets, material request forms, and completion notes.
· Maintain effective communication and coordination with community leaders, WMGs, WMCs, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth implementation and meaningful local participation.
· Support the Senior Infrastructure Engineer in preparing and updating weekly and monthly technical progress reports and photographic documentation.
· Identify potential risks and safety issues in a timely manner and ensure appropriate safety measures are implemented to protect workers and community members.
· Participate in joint field visits with government authorities, other stakeholders, and TLO teams, and ensure accurate technical information is communicated and documented.
· Support the preparation of BoQs, sketches, and simple engineering drawings under the supervision of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer.
· Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams by providing accurate technical specifications, conducting technical checks during material delivery, and verifying material quality.
· Assist in verifying the completion and quality of contractor works before submitting invoices for review and approval by the Project Engineer.
· Maintain strong working relationships with communities, ensuring transparency and respect for local norms while upholding TLO accountability standards.
· Ensure compliance with TLO policies, safety protocols, safeguarding principles, environmental standards, and Do No Harm guidelines in all activities.
· Conduct oneself professionally and respectfully at all times to positively represent TLO.
· Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Infrastructure Engineer or Project Manager.
