Job Summary

The Senior Project Manager will lead and oversee end-to-end operations across road construction and mining projects, combining advanced technical expertise with strong leadership and managerial capabilities. The role requires in-depth knowledge of road construction methodologies (earthworks, asphalt, concrete works) and mining operations (extraction, drilling, blasting, and material handling) to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality project execution.

The incumbent will be responsible for translating technical plans into operational success, optimizing the use of heavy equipment, manpower, and resources while maintaining compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations. Acting as a strategic link between field operations and executive management, the Senior Project Manager will drive performance, innovation, and continuous improvement across all project sites.

This position follows a rotational duty schedule, with 15 days based in Kabul (head office) and 15 days traveling to provincial project sites, ensuring strong technical oversight and operational control on the ground.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Leadership

  • Direct and manage multiple road construction and mining projects simultaneously
  • Ensure timely execution aligned with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity and efficiency

2. Technical Oversight

  • Provide expert guidance on construction methodologies, mining operations, and equipment utilization
  • Monitor engineering standards, compliance, and technical integrity across all sites
  • Troubleshoot complex operational and technical challenges

3. Project Management

  • Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of projects
  • Ensure optimal allocation of manpower, machinery, and materials
  • Track project performance metrics and implement corrective actions where needed

4. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams including engineers, supervisors, and site managers
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Drive collaboration between departments such as procurement, finance, and HR

5. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and environmental standards
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture across all operations
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, mining regulations, and industry standards

6. Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage operational budgets and control costs effectively
  • Contribute to contract negotiations, vendor management, and procurement strategies
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement

7. Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, government authorities, and contractors
  • Represent the company in meetings, audits, and project reviews
  • Maintain strong relationships to support business growth
Job Requirements:
  • Base Location: Kabul (Head Office)
  • Rotation:
    • 15 days stationed in Kabul for planning, coordination, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
    • 15 days traveling to provincial project sites for on-ground supervision, inspections, and team leadership
  • Must be willing to travel frequently and work in remote and challenging environments
