Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct individual and group counselling sessions on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition using approved materials.
• Provide practical information on antenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, maternal nutrition, micronutrients, immunization, hygiene and menstrual health.
• Identify nutrition and health risks or danger signs through approved non-clinical screening and counselling procedures and facilitate timely referral.
• Support growth, nutrition or health awareness activities only within the limits of the position’s qualification and approved project protocols.
• Counter harmful misinformation sensitively and adapt messages to participants’ age, literacy level, disability and cultural context.
• Coordinate with nearby health facilities, nutrition sites, community health workers and mobile teams and maintain an updated referral directory.
• Follow up referrals when consent is provided and document outcomes without exposing confidential personal information.
• Support food and nutrition demonstrations and prepare or organize suitable learning materials for safe-space sessions.
• Escalate medical emergencies immediately and never prescribe medicines, diagnose illness or perform procedures outside the post holder’s legal qualification and authorization.
• Perform duties in accordance with OCHR policies, the approved workplan, and applicable Donor standards and guidance.
• Promote safe, dignified and inclusive access to services, applying do-no-harm, confidentiality, informed consent and survivor-centred principles.
• Comply with OCHR safeguarding, child safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, code of conduct, anti-fraud and conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Explain available feedback and complaint channels to participants and promptly report safeguarding concerns through approved confidential pathways.
• Maintain accurate, sex- and age-disaggregated activity records and submit timely daily, weekly and monthly information to the supervisor using approved formats.
• Coordinate respectfully with project colleagues, community representatives, relevant authorities and service providers while protecting personal data.
• Participate in orientation, supervision, team meetings, capacity-building activities and performance reviews, and carry out other project-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
