Malan Ideal Impact (Malan) is an Afghan research and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) consultancy registered with Afghanistan's Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Malan specializes in providing high-quality research, MEL services, Third-Party Monitoring (TPM), data collection, safeguarding, and Accountability to Affected People (AAP) services across both the development and humanitarian sectors.

Malan was founded by professionals with extensive experience working with renowned international aid organizations and development partners, including USAID, DFAT, the World Bank, FCDO, SIDA, GIZ, UN agencies, bilateral donors, and international NGOs. Malan's main office is located in Kabul, and the organization has implemented projects across all 34 provinces of Afghanistan.

To strengthen and expand its field team, Malan invites qualified male and female candidates from districts of all 34 provinces of Afghanistan, including Badakhshan, Badghis, Baghlan, Balkh, Bamyan, Daykundi, Farah, Faryab, Ghazni, Ghor, Helmand, Herat, Jawzjan, Kabul, Kandahar, Kapisa, Khost, Kunar, Kunduz, Laghman, Logar, Nangarhar, Nimroz, Nuristan, Paktika, Paktiya, Panjshir, Parwan, Samangan, Sar-e Pul, Takhar, Uruzgan, Wardak, and Zabul, to submit their CVs for inclusion in Malan's Field Monitoring and Data Collection Pool.

Job Descriptions:

Under the guidance of the MEL Department and the direct supervision of the Regional Supervisor or Field Coordinator, the Surveyor will be responsible for conducting high-quality field data collection activities within the assigned district and province.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and other assigned data collection activities.
  • Collecting data in accordance with approved methodologies, tools, sample sizes, and project requirements.
  • Using smartphones, tablets, or other electronic devices for digital data collection.
  • Ensuring that all collected data is accurate, complete, reliable, and submitted on time.
  • Verifying the completeness and quality of collected data before submission.
  • Conducting follow-up interviews or revisits when required to address data quality issues or incomplete information.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality and security of respondents' information and collected data.
  • Following all data collection protocols, ethical standards, safeguarding requirements, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Coordinating closely with the Regional Supervisor, Field Coordinator, Quality Assurance Supervisor, and other relevant team members.
  • Promptly reporting any field challenges, security concerns, technical issues, or irregularities to the immediate supervisor.
  • Attending required training sessions, briefings, and project-related meetings.
  • Being flexible and available to work during weekends, evenings, or other required hours based on fieldwork schedules.
  • Traveling within the assigned district or province when required.
  • Performing any other data collection-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Job Requirements:

Applicants should meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Afghan nationality.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Good understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of data collection methodologies, surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and field research.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in data collection, field monitoring, surveys, research, or related areas.
  • Experience using data collection tools such as ODK, KoBo Collect, Survey123, or SurveyCTO.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect accurate and reliable data in accordance with approved procedures and methodologies.
  • Ability to use smartphones, tablets, or other electronic devices for digital data collection.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in challenging field environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned district or province when required.
  • Knowledge of the local community, context, geographical areas, and national languages (Dari and Pashto) relevant to the applied province or district will be considered an advantage.
