Job Descriptions:

The Livestock Trainer –will be responsible for delivering practical and theory-based livestock management training to selected Project beneficiaries. The Livestock Trainer will provide practical training on livestock management, feeding, animal health, hygiene, and disease prevention.
The trainer will conduct practical demonstrations and provide technical guidance to beneficiaries.
The position will conduct household follow-up visits to monitor livestock management practices and provide coaching.

The Trainer will support beneficiary selection assessments, provide hands-on coaching, ensure proper utilization of livestock kits and conduct regular follow-up visits to enhance sustainability of the intervention. The role contributes directly to strengthening individual and household resilience in targeted communities for four months.

Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver practical training sessions on basic livestock management and animal diseases.

Conduct the survey assessment for identifying the eligible households for project.

Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure changes in beneficiaries' knowledge and skills.

Conduct training for beneficiaries on proper feeding, watering, housing, hygiene, and livestock care.

Provide practical demonstrations on the appropriate use of livestock support inputs, including feed, dewormers, and other project-provided materials.

Train beneficiaries on identification and prevention of common livestock diseases.

Provide awareness on vaccination, deworming, parasite control, and basic animal health practices.

Conduct regular household visits to monitor the application of improved livestock management practices.

Provide technical recommendations to improve livestock productivity and household-level benefits.

Raise awareness on seasonal livestock risks and appropriate preparedness measures.

Train beneficiaries on prevention and early identification of common livestock diseases.

Ensure beneficiaries understand proper handling, feeding, and care of distributed livestock kit.

Support the distribution process of livestock kits and verify that minimum facility requirements are met prior to distribution.

Coordinate closely with Community Mobilizers to ensure attendance, follow-up, and problem-solving at community level.

Promote environmentally responsible and hygienic livestock practices in line with community health considerations.

Support MEAL team in data collection, progress monitoring, and documentation of outcomes and success stories.

Prepare and submit regular technical and progress reports to the Project Manager.

Ensure all activities are implemented in line with organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and donor requirements.

Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Agriculture or related field preferred (relevant technical certification with strong experience may be considered).

A minimum 3 years of relevant experience in livestock training, or livelihood programming with proven experience in delivering practical, field-based technical training.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of disease prevention, feeding systems, and vaccination.

Experience conducting field assessments and follow-up monitoring visits.

Ability to provide hands-on coaching and technical problem-solving support.

Strong communication and facilitation skills.

Ability to work effectively with vulnerable households in rural settings.

Experience working with vulnerable women and girls and applying gender-responsive approaches.

Fluency in Pashto and Dari required; English is an asset.

Willingness to travel regularly within the project District.
