The Ambulance Driver will be responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of emergency and referred patients from health facilities to designated referral facilities. The driver will ensure ambulance readiness, conduct daily vehicle and safety checks, maintain accurate movement and referral records, and comply with traffic laws and organizational procedures. The role also requires adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), safeguarding, confidentiality, and patient dignity standards.
Main responsibilities:

Safely and timely transport emergency and referred patients from the BHC to designated referral health facilities.

Ensure ambulance readiness and availability for emergency cases, including referral of pregnant women, newborns, children, trauma cases, and other patients requiring urgent care.

Support health facility staff during patient transportation and ensure safe handling of patients during transfer.

Maintain respectful communication with patients and their families while ensuring patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.

Follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures, including regular cleaning, disinfection, and hygiene maintenance of the ambulance.

Conduct daily checks of ambulance condition, including fuel level, tires, lights, safety equipment, and overall functionality.

Report any mechanical problems, accidents, or safety-related issues immediately to the supervisor.

Maintain accurate records of ambulance movement, patient referrals, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.

Coordinate with the Project Manager, doctors, nurses, midwives, social workers, and other health staff regarding patient referral services.

Provide special attention and support during transportation of women, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities.

Comply with health facility referral procedures, organizational policies, safeguarding principles, and Code of Conduct requirements.

Participate in emergency preparedness activities and related health facility activities.

Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.
