Since 2002, AWEC has collaborated with women and communities to enhance access to education, health, and vocational services in Afghanistan. Our initiatives extend to livelihood improvement, protection, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), humanitarian aid, grant management, capacity building, social rehabilitation, cohesion, and justice. AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

Job Descriptions:

The Community Mobilizers will support the implementation of agriculture and livestock-related project activities at the community level. The role focuses on mobilizing beneficiaries, facilitating training sessions, ensuring community participation, and supporting the delivery of climate-smart agriculture and livestock interventions. Support initiatives, market linkage, agribusiness development, and activities. 

Responsibilities:

1. Community Engagement & Mobilization

  • Mobilize target communities and beneficiaries in coordination with local leaders and stakeholders.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on agriculture, livestock, and resilience-building practices.
  • Facilitate the formation and strengthening of farmer groups, producer groups, or livestock associations.

2. Agriculture & Livestock Support

  • Assist in the implementation of agriculture and livestock activities (e.g., seed distribution, demonstration plots, poultry, and livestock support).
  • Provide basic technical guidance to farmers on improved agricultural practices, crop management, and animal husbandry.
  • Support vaccination campaigns, animal health awareness, and veterinary outreach activities.
  • Promote climate-smart and sustainable farming techniques.

3. Training & Facilitation

  • Organize and support Farmer Field Schools (FFS), Poultry and livestock training sessions.
  • Assist trainers and technical staff during training delivery.
  • Ensure proper attendance and participation of beneficiaries.
  • Translate technical information into simple, locally understandable language.

4. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Collect field data and support beneficiary registration and verification processes.
  • Monitor progress of activities at the community level.
  • Report challenges, feedback, and success stories to the supervisor.
  • Maintain proper documentation (attendance sheets, distribution lists, etc.).

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with community leaders, CDCs, and local authorities.
  • Coordinate closely with project staff to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Support complaint and feedback mechanisms at community level.
  • Coordinate with relevant government departments at the local level to facilitate the administrative processes
  • Organize meetings with local leaders, beneficiaries and collect their feedback and share the report with the project officer
  • Work with a cooperative attitude and keep a high standard of working quality
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor and AWEC’s senior management.
Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A minimum of Diploma or Bachelors degree in agriculture, veterinary science, animal husbandry or related field.

A Minimum of of 2-3 years’ experience in community-based agriculture or livestock projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong understanding of local farming systems and livestock practices.

Fluent in speaking and writing Pashto and Dari languages

Understanding language will be an advantage

Honest, Motivated, tolerant, active and well-mannered

Ability to work in unstable insecurity environments and tight schedules

Ability to adapt to changing requirement

Familiarity with Farmer Field School (FFS) approaches.

Experience in value chains, poultry, small ruminants, or livestock, climate-smart agriculture or DRR-related projects.
