Our Client in Afghanistan Country Office (AFCO) serves as an organizational mechanism to deliver a range of projects for which our client has been designated as the implementation agency. At present, our client’s activities cover a range of sectors including humanitarian, basic human needs, cash for work, infrastructure, development, procurement and HR services. The functional objective of our client is to contribute to improving the lives of girls, boys, men and women living in Afghanistan. The aim of our client is to provide efficient and cost-effective implementation services on behalf of all our partners to support the humanitarian response and development of the country. Job-Specific Information

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Manager (SPM), the Project Management Support Associate (Diversity and Inclusion) supports the Senior Project Manager (SPM) and DPM in a) ensuring compliance with the Project’s Sexual Abuse and Exploitation / Sexual Harrassment Action Plan, and b) in supporting project components on any relevant gender and social inclusion aspects, including developing and revieing the Gender Action Plan and monitoring progress of the Plan. Both also provide support on training and awareness, data analytics and monitoring of gender-related policies. The Project Management Support Associate (Diversity and Inclusion) will be required to travel across all project sites.

Project Information

The “Project for Promoting Climate Change Adaptation through Community-led Approach in Afghanistan” funded by JICA aims to strengthen the resilience of communities by implementing community-led adaptation measures. Its overall objective is to empower people in target communities to have strengthened climate change and disaster resilience through two main components: constructing and rehabilitating small-scale infrastructure for climate change adaptation (e.g., check dams, river bank protection walls, irrigation canals), and strengthening community-based systems to mitigate the impacts of climate change and adverse climate events through training and capacity building.

Job Requirements:

a. Education
● Completion of secondary school is required.
● A first-level university degree (e.g. Bachelor) in Gender, Development Studies,Sociology or other social science is desirable but not required, and may be considered as a substitute for some years of work experience.
● Specific gender-focused training by the UN, or international non-governmental (INGOs) organizations is an asset.

b. Work Experience
● A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in gender, women’s empowerment and/or diversity management for candidates with a high school diploma is required, or
● A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in gender, women’s empowerment and/or diversity management is required for candidates with a first-level university degree.
● Experience working with the JICA, the Embassy of Japan, UN agencies or other donor agencies, government ministries, and/or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is valued.
