Position Summary:
Upon successful approval of the project proposal by UNDP, the Forestry/NRM Specialist will lead technical planning, implementation oversight, training, monitoring and quality assurance of forestry, rangeland management, land restoration and natural resource management activities under the CCLF project in Keshm District of Badakhshan Province. The position will ensure that ecosystem-based interventions are technically sound, community-owned and climate-resilient.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Forestry and NRM Technical Leadership
· Lead technical planning and implementation support for community forestry, rangeland rehabilitation and land restoration activities.
· Provide guidance on species selection, nursery support, site preparation, planting, protection, maintenance and survival monitoring.
· Ensure forestry and NRM interventions are climate-responsive and appropriate to local ecological conditions.
2. Capacity Building and Training Support
· Design and facilitate capacity-building workshops on forestry, rangeland management, land restoration and community-based NRM.
· Guide Forestry Field Technicians and trainers in delivering practical field demonstrations and community sessions.
· Support inclusive participation of women and men in forestry and natural resource management activities.
3. Assessment, Planning and Quality Assurance
· Validate community-generated forestry and NRM priorities and support development of technical implementation plans.
· Conduct field assessments and provide recommendations for degraded land restoration, soil conservation and climate-resilient species adoption.
· Monitor technical quality of forestry and NRM activities and recommend corrective actions where needed.
4. Coordination, Reporting and Documentation
· Coordinate with project management, GIS, M&E, livelihoods, community mobilization teams and local stakeholders.
· Prepare technical reports, field notes, training reports and forestry/NRM inputs for project documentation.
· Document good practices, lessons learned and field evidence related to restoration and natural resource management.
Key Deliverables:
· Forestry, rangeland and natural resource management interventions technically planned and guided.
· Field assessments, site recommendations and restoration plans prepared.
· Capacity-building workshops and technical training sessions designed and supported.
· Forestry Field Technicians guided and technical quality monitored.
