Acted Afghanistan:

Acted is working in 16 provinces in Afghanistan around the country. These provinces are affected by natural and man-made disasters. Acted provides relief and emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by displacements, conflicts, or natural disasters, in the fields of agriculture, shelter, wash, and food security.

Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

The Agriculture & Livelihood Expert will support the implementation of agriculture-based and livelihood activities aimed at improving food security, income generation, and resilience of targeted communities under the WFP-funded project.

Detailed Responsibilities:

 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments for agriculture and livelihood interventions
  • Support planning and implementation of activities such as:
    • Home gardening
    • Kitchen gardening
    • Small-scale agribusiness initiatives
    • Income-generating activities (IGAs)
  • Provide technical training to beneficiaries on improved agricultural practices and livelihood skills
  • Support distribution and proper utilization of agriculture and livelihood kits
  • Monitor field activities and ensure quality implementation
  • Assist in beneficiary targeting, selection, and verification processes
  • Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders
  • Conduct regular field visits and provide on-site technical guidance
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and project guidelines
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports
  • Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices 

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work in rural and remote areas
  • Good reporting and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Fluency in Pashto and/or Dari; English is an asset
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Gender-sensitive approach in community engagement

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Rural Development, Economics, or related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in agriculture and livelihood projects
  • Experience with NGOs and donor-funded projects (preferably WFP) is an asset
  • Strong understanding of local agriculture systems and livelihood practices
  • Experience in community-based training and capacity building
