Razi Social Development Organization- RSDO is an Afghan NGO founded in April 11, 2008 and registered with Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan. It was established in Herat city but then sat up sub-offices in Ghor, Badghis and Farah provinces by delivering the social development services to vulnerable and marginalized people in the remote communities.

  • RSDO’s Background

RSDO firstly initiated the primary activities in 2002 under the name of “Abu Hanifeh Orphan High School”, assisting orphan children who lost their parents and families during the long-lasting war in Afghanistan to learn and build their future. Later on, with the financial support of Japan Embassy it has constructed a high school building for the orphan and expanded the activities of orphan with the support of HELP Germany as well. Throughout years of hard working, RSDO slowly developed and now has functioning offices in all west zone provinces of Afghanistan with more than 200 staff.

RSDO’s mandate is delivering the humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable households in the west zone provinces of Afghanistan through the financial support of UN and International Organizations.

Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position:

The MEAL Officer is responsible for establishing and strengthening Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems for the project. The position ensures effective tracking of project progress, quality data collection and analysis, accountability to beneficiaries, and timely reporting to support evidence-based decision-making and successful project implementation. The MEAL Officer will also support the development of monitoring frameworks, indicators, tools, and learning mechanisms to improve project performance and impact.

2. Duties and Responsibilities for the Position:

  • Develop and implement project MEAL plans, frameworks, indicators, tools, and tracking systems in line with project objectives and donor requirements.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to project sites to assess progress, quality, and compliance with project activities.
  • Support the design and implementation of baseline, end line, post-distribution monitoring (PDM), and other assessment activities.
  • Collect, verify, analyze, and manage qualitative and quantitative project data to ensure accuracy, reliability, and timely reporting.
  • Maintain project databases, dashboards, trackers, and information management systems for effective monitoring and reporting.
  • Prepare regular MEAL reports, progress updates, findings, and presentations for project management and donor reporting purposes.
  • Establish and strengthen accountability and feedback mechanisms, including beneficiary feedback and complaint response systems.
  • Track project indicators and measure achievements against project targets and expected outcomes.
  • Identify implementation gaps, challenges, and lessons learned, and provide recommendations for program improvement.
  • Support learning initiatives through documentation of best practices, success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate closely with project staff and management to ensure integration of MEAL activities into overall project implementation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project staff on data collection methodologies, reporting tools, and MEAL processes.
  • Ensure proper filing, documentation, and confidentiality of project data and records.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor related to project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities.
Job Requirements:
  1. 3-5 years relevant work experience
  2. 7 years overall NGO experience
  3. Social Science/ BA but MA is preferrable
  4. English is Must
  5. Field knowledge from Herat and Ghor districts
