Job Descriptions:

Overall Responsibilities:

The MEAL, Documentation and Reporting Officer will support the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities at project level, with a strong focus on documentation and reporting.

The role will ensure timely and accurate data collection, proper documentation of project activities, and preparation of quality reports in line with organizational and donor requirements. The officer will also support accountability to beneficiaries and contribute to improving program quality through evidence-based information. In addition, the role will contribute to ensuring strong community-based protection mechanisms, safe referrals and case management, and timely support for children affected by risks including violence, abuse, exploitation, and violations of child rights.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitoring:

  • Support staff in developing practical data collection tools aligned with project log frames.
  • Conduct regular field data collection (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Ensure data accuracy and quality in coordination with project and partner staff.
  • Participate in KIIs, FGDs, and field monitoring visits.
  • Track project indicators, including child protection activities, referrals, and case management.

Documentation:

  • Properly document project activities, field findings, and lessons learned.
  • Develop case studies, success stories, and field reports.
  • Maintain organized records of project data, reports, and supporting documents.
  • Ensure all documentation is updated, accessible, and in line with project requirements.

Reporting:

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of MEAL
  • Compile and analyze monitoring data for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure reports are clear, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Support donor and internal reporting requirements.

Evaluation:

  • Support implementation of project evaluation activities.
  • Assist in preparing ToRs for evaluations.
  • Support data collection and basic analysis for internal evaluations.
  • Assist in sharing and documenting evaluation findings.

Accountability:

  • Support feedback and complaint mechanisms at project level.
  • Promote two-way communication with beneficiaries.
  • Ensure participation of children and communities in MEAL activities.
  • Support safe and ethical engagement in line with safeguarding policies.
  • Conduct regular field visits for monitoring and feedback collection.

Learning:

  • Document lessons learned and best practices.
  • Support integration of learning into project implementation.
  • Assist in small research or assessment activities when required.
  • Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor in line with project needs.
Job Requirements:

Background/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science (BBA, LLB, Economics, Social work, international law or related field, a Master’s degree holder is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in MEAL program with a National/International NGO or UN organization.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Monitoring, evaluation, learning and child protection in emergencies, GBV prevention, and child rights.

Skills Required:

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Fluency in local languages, Pashto (spoken and written).
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
