Job Descriptions:

The Legal Officer will serve as the organization’s primary legal advisor, ensuring compliance with Afghanistan’s telecommunications regulations, corporate laws, and Sharia principles. This role requires expertise in drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with contractors, vendors, and customers, while safeguarding the company’s interests and minimizing legal risks. The Legal Officer will act as a bridge between technical teams, management, and regulatory authorities, providing strategic legal guidance to support Knack Rise’s operations and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Afghanistan’s telecommunications laws, licensing, and permit requirements.
  • Advise management on the legal implications of new regulations and policies.
  • Review and update company policies to align with Afghan laws and international telecom standards.
  • Prepare and submit accurate regulatory filings to government authorities.

2. Contract Management & Negotiations

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with contractors, vendors, and customers, ensuring clarity, fairness, and compliance with Afghan laws.
  • Develop contract frameworks for interconnection agreements, infrastructure sharing, and vendor partnerships.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks in commercial agreements.
  • Track contract performance, compliance, renewals, and closeouts.

3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Represent Knack Rise in disputes with customers, vendors, and operators.
  • Manage legal communications with government institutions, regulatory bodies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Oversee dispute resolution processes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation, ensuring outcomes that protect the company’s interests.
  • Maintain records of legal proceedings and provide regular updates to management.

4. Site Acquisition & Landlord Negotiations

  • Lead the legal aspects of site acquisition for telecom infrastructure, including towers, offices, and operational facilities.
  • Negotiate lease agreements and land-use contracts with landlords, ensuring compliance with Afghan property laws.
  • Secure favorable terms while protecting Knack Rise’s long-term operational interests.
  • Resolve disputes with landlords and property owners through mediation or legal channels.
  • Maintain a database of property agreements, renewals, and compliance obligations.
Job Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; Master’s in Law preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in corporate legal practice or law firm, with direct exposure to telecommunications, TTSP, or technology sectors.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Afghan laws, Sharia principles, and telecom regulatory frameworks.
  • Able to travel to provinces when required.
