Role:
The District Officer will be in charge of the implementation of project activities as part of Global Roots for life's food security program at the district level to ensure agricultural, educational, and livelihood components are implemented effectively, with quality and within the project timeline.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation and Coordination
- Implement project activities according to the approved work plan at the district level.
- Coordinate with government departments, community elders, Community Development Councils (CDCs), and project beneficiaries.
- Ensure effective coordination among project staff, trainers, and project beneficiaries.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to home gardens, greenhouses, training centers, classrooms, and beekeeping activities.
- Collect project implementation data and provide regular reports to project management.
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure proper documentation of supporting financial records.
- Identify and immediately report project challenges, risks, or delays to the Project Officer.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and progress reports and ensure proper documentation of project activities.
3. Support to Agricultural Activities
- Monitor implementation of home gardening, greenhouse, and beekeeping activities.
- Train project trainers, and farmers on modern agricultural technologies, horticulture techniques, and productivity improvement practices.
- Provide technical recommendations on planting schedules, irrigation, harvesting, and crop management.
- Identify plant diseases, pests, and weeds and provide appropriate solutions.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of agricultural equipment and irrigation systems.
- Provide hands-on support during planting, irrigation, fertilization, and harvesting processes.
4. Support to Training Activities
- Monitor teaching quality and student attendance in training centers.
- Support trainers and teachers in implementing the approved curriculum.
- Assist in conducting student assessments and monitoring learning progress.
- Help ensure safe, child-friendly learning environments.
5. Logistics and Procurement Support
- Coordinate with the procurement department to obtain educational and agricultural materials and equipment.
- Ensure transparent and timely distribution of project materials to beneficiaries.
- Monitor the proper use and storage of project equipment and supplies.
6. Documentation and Communication
- Collect photos, videos, success stories, and beneficiary feedback from the field.
- Prepare communication materials highlighting project achievements and outcomes.
7. Team Management and Capacity Building
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to district-level project staff.
- Support farmers through regular field supervision.
- Share agricultural knowledge and best practices with team members and beneficiaries.
8. Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in distribution of agricultural inputs and project equipment to beneficiaries.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Officer or organizational management.
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
