Job Descriptions:

Overall responsible for under two children and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) nutrition status, MIYCN counseling, perform GMP for U2 years children and documentation of the clients (PLW) based on Ministry of Public Health/Nutrition standards anthropometric tools and registration formats.

Register and undertake Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) including measure weight, height, age, MUAC measurement and check edema of all children under two years of age.

 Conduct GMP based counseling of mothers/Caregivers of all children under two years of age on appropriate Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) practices and infection prevention.
• If the child is normal, encourage and counsel Mother to reinforce and promote age appropriate MIYCN practices.
• If child is suffering from Acute Malnutrition, refer to the nurse of the health center for giving adequate treatment and counseling.
• Counsel Mothers/ caregivers to bring under two children for the continues monthly GMP visits.

 Check whether child has received Vitamin A supplementation during the previous NID, if no then refer to the doctor of the health center in order to obtain Vitamin A.
 Providing health and nutrition education to mothers in health centers on a daily basis.
 Conduct food demonstration demonstration sessions.
> Conduct family MUAC training for PLW and care givers.

At the Community level:

 Work and coordinate with Community Health Supervisors (CHSs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs) during the CHW monthly meetings to:
 Share the GMP defaulter cases list with CHW and follow up.
 Ensure that the GPM sessions conducted in community by CHWs regularly.
 Mentoring CHWs on topics such as GMP, counselling skills, proper home visit

Job Requirements:

Education:
Completed higher secondary level education (Midwifery or Nursing) or graduated from 12th class.
MIYCN training

Work Experience:
1 – 2 years’ experience in a similar role with NGOs or BPHS.
Fluent in local languages Dari & Pashto.

The holder of this position will provide MIYCN services in accordance with MIYCN guideline and will be reported to HF In-charge.
