The organization is established and run by an Afghan woman with a strong and committed team to respond to the development needs of Afghanistan such as; educational, advocacy, human rights, environmental, health and economical perspectives. VDO is committed to work for the welfare and progress of society with focus on abovementioned areas.

Job Descriptions:
  • Draft press releases, articles, newsletters, and donor updates.
  • Manage internal and external communications across multiple channels.
  • Assist in organizing events, media briefings, and communication campaigns.
  • Maintain records of communication activities and track media coverage.
  • Support in translating complex programmatic information into compelling content.
  • Liaise with program teams for story collection and case studies.
Job Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.

  • A diploma or certification in content writing, media communication, or digital marketing is an advantage.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience in communications, media, public relations, or content development.

  • Experience drafting press releases, articles, newsletters, or similar communication materials.

  • Experience working with NGOs, development organizations, or media institutions is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content.

  • Ability to translate complex programmatic or technical information into user-friendly and compelling narratives.

  • Familiarity with communication tools and platforms (email newsletters, social media channels, websites, etc.).

  • Ability to track media coverage and maintain communication records.

  • Event coordination skills, especially for media briefings and communication campaigns.

  • Basic design or layout skills (e.g., Canva, InDesign) are an advantage but not mandatory.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in content development.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Language Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Proficiency in local languages (Dari/Pashto).
