Afghanistan Research, Development and Health Organization (ARDHO) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-for-profit and independent organization developed in 2019 by a group of community development and research specialists and registered with the Ministry of Economy (registration number: 4727). The aim of the organization is to contribute to the development of Afghanistan as an integral part of the international community. It envisages accomplishing its aims by building local capacities, generating evidence in various disciplines, promoting evidence-based best practices, and implementing developmental projects aimed at Community Development at the grass root level.

ARDHO services include planning of humanitarian and development projects, designing feasibility studies, and management of community-based interventions for the development of target communities through best practices. ARDHO considers a multi-sectoral approach to Community Development and hence ensures its services to be offered through an extended range of sectors spanning health, Nutrition, Research, Education, WASH, Food Security and livelihood. It also tries to ensure that women empowerment, as a key cross-cutting issue, is at the center of Community Development. ARDHO has access to most of the provinces of Afghanistan with greatest acceptance.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:
The Psychologist Specialist is responsible for providing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services to patients and clients at health facilities and community level. The role involves individual counseling, group therapy, awareness sessions, and capacity building of health staff in mental health care under BPHS/EPHS guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide psychological assessments, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions to patients with mental health or psychosocial issues.
- Support integration of mental health services in BPHS health facilities.
- Train and supervise health staff on basic psychosocial support skills.
- Collaborate with medical doctors and social workers for comprehensive care.
- Conduct awareness and psychoeducation sessions in the community.
- Ensure proper documentation and confidentiality of patient records.

- Refer severe cases to higher-level mental health services when necessary.
- Contribute to data collection, monitoring, and reporting of MHPSS activities.

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements:
- Medical Doctor (MD) with a specialization in Psychology.
- At least 3 years of experience in providing psychological support in clinical or humanitarian settings.
- Solid understanding of national mental health guidelines and BPHS package.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive cases with empathy and confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel and work in remote or conflict-affected areas.
- Fluent in local languages; English is an asset.
